Nikon D5500 digital camera
January 5, 2015 — Nikon has announced the Nikon D5500 digital camera, an advanced DX-format digital SLR camera featuring an all-new touch-screen interface on a 3.2-inch 1037K dot articulating LCD display. The screen can be folded out to the side and rotated 270-degrees to provide a forward-facing monitor, or above head or low angle photography and video.

The camera incorporates a 24.2 megapixel APS-C format sensor and EXPEED 4 processing engine and is capable of capturing 5 frames per second continuous shooting. The D5500 is capable of 1080 HD video at 60p for ultra-smooth capture of fast action.

For precise focus, the D5500 uses a 39-point AF system with 9 cross-type sensors and advanced 3D tracking. The 2016 pixel RGB sensor provides accurate exposure and incorporates Nikon Scene Recognition System to find the perfect exposure for any photographic composition.Nikon D5500 Digital Camera Front

The D5500 has 16 unique scene modes to capture the mood or creative interpretation, and picture controls can be used fine tune color, sharpness and saturation to meet the desire of any photographer. A special flat scene mode is especially useful for capturing video.

The body of the D5500 is built from a carbon fiber and resin composite material that is both lighter and stronger than traditional plastics. Its overall size, 4.9 inch width by 3.8 inch height by 2.8 inch depth, make it the smallest and thinnest DSLR with a fully articulating LCD.Nikon D5500 camera with lens

Built-in WiFi allows wireless control from mobile phone or tablet, and sending and sharing photos has never been easier with Nikon Snapbridge.

The D5500 will be available in early February, 2015 in two color options: traditional black or glossy red. The body only will sell for $899.95 US Dollars. The kit including the 18-55mm VR II lens will be priced at $999.95 US Dollars, and with 18-140mm VR lens will be $1199.95 US Dollars.
