  1. The Nikon D5500 English version of the manual will not download.
The Spanish version will download but I don’t speak Spanish. Also, the D5300 manual will download so I can get an idea of the similar features. But I just bought the D5500 and would like to use the that manual.

  2. Your instruction manual for the D5500 English will not download
    Error with server

Where can I download the manual?

        1. To fix “network error” issues when downloading files, try the following:
          1. Clear cookies and cache and try again.
          2. Disable anti-virus or “allow” the browser through your antivirus and firewall settings.
          3. Try using a different web browser.

  3. Unable to download D5500 Reference Manual. Get a network error when I try

    1. Yes, the D5500 will work with all SD cards up to (and probably beyond) the current 128, 256 and 512GB.

      1. It is possible one of the buttons has become stuck. Try to press each one to see if it is stuck down. Such a condition would cause the buttons not to work.

  4. I just bought a new Nikon D5500 and then bought a wide angle lens. (For Real Estate inside home pics). I have a dark circle at the bottom middle of every picture !! I have not touched anything on the camera. It is still at default settings and have only owned it 1 week. My guess is I don’t know what I am doing with the wide angle lens….lol. HELP !

    1. Hi Nancy,

The lens is blocking the on-board flash. You can disable the flash or use an external flash. If the wide angle lens has a hood you can try removing it, but the lens itself may be blocking the flash. Your pictures would probably look better with external flash, or no flash at all (you may need to use a tripod)

  5. Is there a way to see the light meter through the view finder or the monitor? Also is there a way to view histograms?

    1. Hi Zoe,
The camera will show how it interprets the exposure with the +/- scale in M mode, and P, S or A modes if there is a possible issue with the exposure. You can see this scale in both information and live view displays.

You can view the histogram of a photo you have taken in Image Review. You can enable different screens in playback display options, then use up/down to scroll between the selections. There is no Live View histogram function on the D5500 camera.

  6. I have change the quality of image and image size in camera and still I can even get a pic with good quality

    1. Hello Nihal,
Can you describe the quality issue? Poor quality images could be due many factors. Without knowing how you have set up the camera and lens, I can only suggest to reset the camera to default settings, set to auto and try again.

  7. Hello:

My Nikon D5500 Liveview function will not dis-engage. Unable to use the Menu or other buttons on the camera. It still takes pictures but won’t let me review prior pictures taken. I resetted camera to default settings but that did not resolve the problem. Help!, please.

    1. Hello Luis,
It sounds like the mirror might be stuck in the up position. Check to make sure the lens is not obstructing the mirror, older F-mount and AI’d lenses may cause this. Otherwise it may be a mechanical problem with the camera.

  8. I’m trying to set up a wireless remote control and can’t find any instructions in the manuel. The remote control said to refer to the manuel.

  9. All my buttons have stopped working after switching it to live mode and a mini screen with a pointing finger saying off has appeared on the screen.

    1. Hello Sian,
Check for stuck buttons. If a button is stuck down it may prevent buttons from working. Does the camera operate normally outside of live view?

      1. Hi thanks for your reply. Doesn’t seem to have an stuck buttons. Outside live view I can only take pictures, I can not view them or use any buttons.
I’ve tried the reset bottons, holding both down for one minute but no joy.

  10. I’ve lost the ability to view my photographs on the camera. I receive the message “Playback not currently available.” How do I fix this?

    1. To begin, try resetting the camera, format the memory card and remove and re-insert camera battery. If that does not fix it may be an electrical issue that you will need to have fixed by Nikon.

  11. I was using my 5500 Nikon I minute then I was unable to take a photo. It will focus then nothing when I press shutter only focus .

  12. I had this on my phone, but killed my phone. Can’t find the manual for a D5500 to download to my phone at the App Store. I did download the manual to my computer without difficulty
